about

It's hard to disagree with the statement that black and white photography is a highly unique way of representing the surrounding world. Being it landscapes or portraits, it always adds some, if not magic, then definitely special qualities to the photos.

If you're photographing in colour you show the colour of their clothes - if you use black and white, you will show the colour of their soul (Anonymous).

I use Nikon D40 and shoot in RAW. As my lens is far from being top-notch, I am thinking of buying a better one. After shooting photos, I import them into my computer and that's where all the fun begins.

Despite the fact that digital photography tutorials are written almost exclusively for Photoshop users:(, I use LightZone, a professional program for digital processing. Being not as versatile as Photoshop, LightZone is a small and powerful program targeted predominantly at digital photographers. If you are a Linux user, you can get it here for free (unfortunately x86_64 architecture is not supported yet). If you use other operating systems you can buy it here. Alternatively, you can download (here) and install one of the many flavours of Linux (my favourite one is Debian).

Since light constitutes one of the most critical factors in photography, in most cases digital processing comes down to playing with light a lot. Sometimes I find it extremely hard to decide which version of a photo is best for the website. In some cases there's some magic about all of them:)

Anyway, I hope you will enjoy at least some of my photos and I do encourage you to leave some comments:)
